Tesla did one good thing: it brought hype to the EV market. Now that many major car manufacturers have caught on, Tesla brings nothing to the table. And with Elon heading it, those who are in the market for EVs wisely do not trust the company. This is just another reason to avoid them.
Just because there are other brands in the market doesn't mean Tesla brings nothing to the table. Does that mean all ICE brands bring nothing to the table because there are other ICE brands?
Tesla cars are still excellent and it only takes an opportunity to drive both the Tesla and the BYD to see why the Tesla is more expensive.
Don't get me wrong Elon being in the position he is does muddy the brand name, but they're still excellent cars.
There is an accusation of odometer fraud, but this isn't new for any car nor are other fraudulent activities of car brands in general
Tesla was the only Western car company serious about making electric cars. Every other company is very clear that they make gas cars, don't want to make electric cars, and will only do so if forced by the government. Consumers only want to buy electric cars, so it's essentially a two horse race between Tesla and Chinese car companies. I'm no fan of today's Elon Musk, but I'm also not a fan of surrendering the car market to China.
